Pakistan’s software exports growing at 50% annually

Pakistani software exports are climbing, much like this domestically produced JF-17 jet...Here’s another piece of news to validate something we’ve known for a while now. Pakistan’s software industry continues to show great growth, with the past 4 years showing 50% YoY increases. This is especially impressive given that there was a lot of media coverage of supposed instability in Pakistan close to the November/December 2007 timeframe. The period this report covers includes those months and the growth rate hasn’t skipped a beat! Note that the specific dollar numbers in this report include direct exports, but the overall size of the IT “GDP” of Pakistan is $2BN+. Read on for the Pakistan Daily’s story.

Pakistan’s information technology industry making progress at 50 percent annually

Pakistan’s information technology industry is progressing rapidly at more than 50 per cent annually for the last four years, with many companies winning huge contracts from domestic as well as international market, an official of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) said in a statement issued on Thursday.
